Flu Clinics
This year, our Flu Clinics will take bookings from May onwards as the advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) is that the peak of the flu season can run up to September, with the flu vaccine providing optimal protection for about 3 to 4 months following vaccination.
If you are
- Of Aboriginal or Torres Straits Islander ethnicity
- Aged 65 and above
- Currently Pregnant
- Aged >6 mths with a chronic illness that increases the risk of influenza disease complications
You will qualify for a free vaccine funded under the National Immunisation Program
For those who do not qualify for the free vaccine, the vaccine is available for purchase on the day for $20 without requiring a prescription prior.
Please note that all Flu Clinic consults will be BULK-BILLED.
Please also be advised that you are also able to obtain the flu vaccine through our GPs throughout the year starting from the 18th of April. So if you are unable to attend our flu clinics in May, please still enquire about the availability of a flu vaccine when you see your family GP here at the Arkaba Medical Centre.
